Google Mobile Usability Warnings - Is your SharePoint site mobile-friendly?

Google has been notifying the web masters about the mobile usability warnings for the past few weeks. These notifications contain the subject “fix mobile usability issues found on…” It then goes on to explain that these sites have critical mobile usability errors on 100% of the pages on the site and thus the pages will be “displayed and ranked appropriately for smartphone users.”

These warning notifications are sent through email and Google Webmaster Tools. Sites that are not mobile friendly (as per Google) will be ranked lower in the mobile search result.

On the other hand, if your website is considered to be mobile usable, your site will get a ranking boost in the Google search result.

To help mobile users know if a site is mobile-friendly when searching, Google added a text label that reads “Mobile-friendly”. Additionally to the mobile-friendly label, Google is conducting some experiments with a new ranking algorithm for mobile friendly web sites.

If you want to be certain that your website meets the mobile-friendly criteria check it with the Google Mobile-Friendly Test.
